A/C SYSTEMS

WHAT DO A/C COMPANIES FAIL TO TELL YOU?

Were you told what SEER Rating is? Why is that important? Because the SEER Rating determines how much it will cost you to operate your air conditioner. The lower the SEER Rating, the more electricity it will use and the more it will cost you to operate. The higher the SEER rating the lower it will cost to operate. A conventional A/C system with a higher SEER Rating may cost you a little more, but it will save you a lot more money on your electric bill. Plus, they will completely pay for themselves.

Definition: S.E.E.R. Rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
The SEER rating of a unit is the cooling output in Btu (British thermal unit) during a typical cooling-season divided by the total electric energy input in watt-hours during the same period.

In the end you have to pay the electric bill not, you're A/C Company. So if you're A/C Company failed to inform you about the SEER rating, what else did they forget to tell you about?

Is that the kind of company you want to do business with?

Below is a chart to show you how much you can save by installing a higher efficiency unit. Most A/C units built after 1992 are a 10 S.E.E.R. (Source: Department of Energy).

Example of how to calculate the cost to operate a 3 Ton, 10 SEER Model Air Conditioner. 36,000 BTU/hr X 3240 hours / 10.0 SEER = 11,6640,000 X $.13 = 1,516,320 / 1000 watts/KW = $1516. to run per year.

Your potential Savings are the difference between a 10 SEER Unit and any higher SEER Unit you would like to replace your system with.

(Chart based on 270 days of cooling at 12 hours a day = 3240 Annual Cooling Hours)

Note: Costs based on 3,200 annual cooling hours and 13 cents per kwh. Actual A/C system size needed to cool your home depends on factors in addition to square footage. Call us for an evaluation of your home's needs.
